Hi all
Are any of you having a band at your wedding party? Just wondering the average cost of a band. We have just be quoted £750 for a 2hr set. Is this about right or not?
Please help.
Jemma

Hi,
I spoke to some professional musicians I know and they said to budget about £100/musician plus expenses and they said they'd charge extra for more than an hour or so.

We're having a band with about 8 members who charge £500, plus £100 expenses and £150 for the sound engineer and hire of PA system etc., so £750 sounds about right to me.
They're going to play 2 one-hour sets too. I think those charges are pretty standard for a Saturday night event.

Just booked my and through a agency. I have a group with 5 people in it and they are charging £1000 for 4 hours. I have to pay an agency fee on top of that - £120.
It's a lot but I am quite happy that they will be good - it works out about £200 for each of the band members for 4 hours work so I think that is reasonable.
Hope that helps

If you aren't totally convinced, go for a great DJ rather than an 'OK' band.
Don't panic though, you should still be able to have a great band for around £750, even less. Just look around :)
