Outdoor Wedding
Whether this is a beach, retreat, or
simple
backyard wedding,
outdoor events
call for special attire planning. Many
people attending outdoor weddings are
not prepared for the whimsical effects
of Mother Nature. It is difficult to
predict the weather accurately, so if
you are getting yourself together for an
outdoor wedding of any kind, be sure to
bring a cardigan or other outer layer.
Great outdoor wedding guest wear for
females typically includes a sheath or
sundress of some kind paired with a cute
cardigan. Men don't necessarily have to
wear suits. Khakis and sport jackets can
suffice. Unless the invitation
specifically states "casual", men should
wear collared shirts such as button
downs or polos beneath their sport
jackets.
For<
outdoor afternoon weddings, keep
colour schemes soft and simple. Light
prints or solids featuring muted tones
or pastels help to set the mood for the
occasion. As always, leave solid white
or ivory
dresses to the bride, but
it is not necessarily a faux pas if you
are wearing a white printed dress.
If this is an evening outdoor
wedding
your colour palette can darken a bit and
your clothing style can mature beyond
the sundress-cardigan combination. There
is something inherently more formal
about evening events, even if it is not
stated on the invitation. Hence dark
colours, satiny fabrics, and more
dramatic and formal styles become
appropriate
Indoor Wedding
The time
of the wedding greatly affects the style
of the wedding apparel. Afternoon
weddings call for softer colours and more
floating fabrics even when you're
indoors.
If
this is an indoor evening
event, your
dress should become considerably more
formal. This doesn't mean black-tie
formal, but the breezy sheath that would
have been appropriate for the afternoon
setting should be replaced by a longer
hemline and, in general, more coverage.
Men can now wear suits and darker colours
like navy and black play well at this
time
Tips to find wedding attire
Dressing for a wedding
can be a challenge. However, following some common sense
clothing tips can help anyone find wedding guest outfits
for any style of wedding.
- Avoid dressing
like the bride, groom, or bridal party.
- Dress for the
weather.
- Bring comfortable
shoes.
- Have a second
outfit as backup, in case of weather changes or
spills, rips, and stuck zippers.
- Bring a travel
iron to an out of town wedding if the hotel does not
furnish one.
- Lint rollers,
travel sewing kits, and stain remover wipes fit into
a purse or pocket to help with clothing emergencies

It really depends on if it's a day or evening wedding.
Whatever it is, don't wear white! It's the bride's day, so leave the white to her (even if she chooses another color).
That said, if it's in the evening, choose a cute cocktail dress in any other color. Black is always good. For a day wedding, you can pretty much go with anything, the cocktail dress would even still be fine since you said it's a big wedding. Is it inside, outside, church, fancy?
Also during the day, a nice pants suit or simple dress/skirt and top would be appropriate.
It's always easy to find out what others will be wearing so that you don't feel over/under dressed.

Do not wear black or white. Black is too sad for the occasion, and white is inappropriate.
If you are tanned, cream, yellow, or any pastel colour dress or trousers suit in a crepe material, would look very chic.
If it's in the evening, you can even wear a long dress with long gloves and high heels (if you are used to heels).
If your hair is long have it put up with little diamante clips.
Wear a small bag either in gold, silver, or matching/ complimenting your outfit.
Shoes should match the dress or trousers, Not the handbag.
Wear some jewellery to give it a bit of a festive look.
