When it comes to planning your special day, you will already understand that it can be an extremely stressful time with so much to consider. If you’re getting married in the summer and looking for some fun ways to make the wedding more fun here are some great ideas to make you summer wedding sizzle with excitement.
Summer Wedding Colours
When it comes to Summer Colours, think bright, vibrant colours. Vibrant, bold colours are a top trend for weddings this year. Shades of oranges, corals, and hot pinks complimented by cool greens create a stunning, contemporary impact.
Colorful Summer Flowers
Weddings in the summer almost beg for the use of flowers in a variety of shapes, colors and scents. Seasonal flowers could include roses, calla lilies, daisies, hydrangea and dahlias. All of these are hardy summer flowers that will withstand the heat while providing an abundance of color. For a simple bouquet, choose one single rose or a few calla lilies tied with a colorful ribbon, or opt for a small mixture of several varieties of flowers in the same colour and tied with two colours of ribbon.
Serving Summer Fare
The menu served should be light and include foods associated with summer. Consider having a picnic with grilled foods, potato salad and lots of chilled fruits.
The wedding cake should also be light and fluffy such as Naked wedding cake or an angel food cake with fluffy whipped cream and strawberries or blueberries.
Fresh fruit pies are a great alternative to a wedding cake or cupcake stand for a summer reception. Order an assortment of pies with all the best seasonal fruits, including peach, cherry, blueberry, and strawberry-rhubarb. Serve with fresh ice cream or whipped cream for a wonderful dessert. You can either have a whole pie table, or serve little mini pies to each guest (perhaps with one larger pie for the “cake” cutting ceremony).
For a twist on a dessert station, consider having an ice cream sundae bar with a variety of ice cream flavors and toppings.
A small basket of berries or peaches with the pie recipe tied to the basket with a gingham ribbon or summer fruits basket for guests to take home. For beach wedding or garden wedding you could give your guest a paper fan or paper umbrella that would help to keep them cool in a hot summer day.
Add light to your venue
If the event is going to be in the evening, you should check out the lighting in the garden. You can hung candle lanterns in the trees or on small posts as well as can white or coloured fairy lights to give that cosy glow. You can go for citronella candles to stop attracting insect variety.
